Albania has assumed the Presidency of the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC), a responsibility it will hold until June 2025. During the latest meeting of the ICIC Executive Committee, it was decided that the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Protection of Personal Data, Mr. Besnik Dervishi, will lead this international conference.
Through an official announcement, the Committee informed Mr. Dervishi of his new role, expressing the highest appreciation for his capacity and outstanding professionalism over the years.
The International Conference of Information Commissioners was first convened in 2003, and the most recent 15th edition was hosted by Albania in June of last year. Germany will be the host country for the next meeting, which is expected to take place in Berlin in June.
The purpose of this conference is to promote and protect access to public information as a fundamental pillar of social, economic, and democratic governance. It aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practices, build capacities, assist in identifying what is needed for global progress, and act as a unified voice in international forums with the goal of improving citizens’ right to public information.
