The School “Transparency and Open Governance 2024” is a program of the Tirana University Faculty of Law, which focuses not only on knowledge of the national legal framework but also on its implementation in practice by future professionals.

Also invited to this activity was the Information and Data Protection Commissioner’, Mr. Besnik Dervishi, who held an open lecture on guaranteeing the right to information in our country and on the role and institutional activity in this field. In his presentation, the Commissioner assessed that the process of transparency of public authorities increases their accountability, promotes continuous integrity and enables the effective participation of citizens in good governance. In this perspective, he emphasized that the digitalization of public services is also very important and necessary to further strengthen the concept of transparency in practice.

Within the framework of this cooperation, a group of students participating in this School were present during the hearings with public authorities. At the same time, they were also introduced to the legal framework in the field of personal data protection, the process of its modernization and the handling of concrete cases. In this way, the Commissioner’s Office contributes to the most complete formation with knowledge and best practices, in order to guarantee the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens.
