EU Experts Conduct Training with the Commissioner’s Office on Open Data and Reuse of Public Sector Information

With the support of experts from the European Union’s Good Governance project, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office (IDP) conducted a training of trainers (ToT) on the effective implementation of Law No. 33/2022 “On Open Data and the Reuse of Public Sector Information.”

During this session, the Commissioner’s Office staff gained in-depth knowledge of open data and best European practices, while also discussing with international experts the differences between open data and the right to information.

Another key topic covered in the training was the supervision and enforcement of Law No. 33/2022 by the Commissioner’s Office. In this context, the EU project assistance expert, Zoran Jachev, expressed his appreciation for the Commissioner’s Office’s commitment and dedication to implementing this law.

Meanwhile, the Director General for the Right to Information, Ms. Elona Hoxha, emphasized that the Commissioner’s Office has taken concrete steps to raise awareness among public authorities, reaching out to 220 institutions in 2024 to inform and educate them on open data and its reuse.

This training was conducted as part of Component 4 of the “European Union for Good Governance” project, which also includes the development of an informative manual on open data and its reuse.
