The Information and Data Protection Commissioner, Mr. Besnik Dervishi, in the capacity of the supervisory authority for monitoring the implementation of Law No. 124/2024 “On the Protection of Personal Data”, signed a cooperation agreement with the Higher Education Institution “University College of Business”, represented by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Ylber BEZO. This agreement comes as a result of the expression of interest by the University College of Business for cooperation with the Commissioner’s Office in providing training for the professional training and qualification program of Data Protection Officers (DPO).
Commissioner Dervishi in his speech praised the initiative of the University College of Business to precede the training process, while emphasizing that the processing of personal data in accordance with the law is very important, therefore the role of Personal Data Protection Officers is key. Describing personal data as the identity of everyone, Mr. Dervishi stated that the new law on the protection of personal data is fully aligned with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The Rector of the University College of Business, Mr. Ylber Bezo, requested the professional support of the Commissioner’s Office, while guaranteeing that the institution he leads has all the commitment and dedication to make this agreement successful, through the training of Data Protection Officers.
Based on point 6 of Article 34 of the Law “On the Protection of Personal Data”, the training of DPOs can be carried out, among others, by domestic or foreign higher education institutions.
The purpose of the signed agreement is to determine the terms of cooperation between the Parties for the development of activities for the implementation of training programs for the professional formation and qualification of Data Protection Officers. The cooperation will consist of the development of a module for the professional formation and qualification of DPOs, the organization of trainings with the aim of training professionals interested in exercising the role of Personal Data Protection Officer.
