European Data Protection Board meeting takes place in Brussels

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) held its 106th plenary meeting in Brussels on 3 and 4 June 2025.

The Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office was represented at this forum by the Commissioner, Mr. Besnik Dervishi, and by the Director of the Cabinet, Ms. Besa Velaj.

At this meeting, the discussions were held on the most important strategic and cross-regulatory developments, international data transfers, their processing for research purposes, the implementation of Article 48 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the interaction of the GDPR with other EU regulations, such as the Digital Market Act (DMA) and the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation.

The meeting also addressed the development of advanced supervisory and legislative practices, developments regarding issues of practical implementation of the GDPR, the impact of new technologies – in particular artificial intelligence – on human rights and the protection of privacy.

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) is an independent EU institution, which aims to implement the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and promote cooperation between data protection supervisory authorities in the EU.

The Information and Data Protection Commissioner has held the status of permanent observer member of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) since 2016. This status enables the Commissioner to regularly participate in its periodic meetings, contribute to discussions and provide opinions.
