Within the framework of the European Union Good Governance project, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office held a meeting with international experts on the start of the implementation of the second component, that of providing assistance to guarantee the effective implementation of the modernized Council of Europe Convention “For the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data” (Convention 108+), included in Albanian legislation with the adoption of Law 49/2022.

Within the framework of the new law on the protection of personal data, part of this assistance is also the drafting of by-laws on the certification and issuance of seals, data protection marks, as well as on additional criteria for the accreditation of certification bodies.

Earlier, the Commissioner’s Office successfully completed the first component of this project, that of strengthening the institutional capacities of the contact points/right to information coordinators for the effective implementation of legislation in the field of open data and the reuse of public information. The project will conclude with the implementation of the third component which will focus on supporting the right to information coordinators, with the aim of improving the handling of requests for information.
