The Executive Committee of the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC) held its third session for 2025. In his capacity as President of the Conference, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner, Mr. Dervishi, thanked the members of the Committee for the support and appreciation shown to the Commissioner’s Office during this period.
Referring to the Berlin Conference, he stressed the importance of the continued commitment and contribution of each member with the aim of fulfilling the established priorities.
At the meeting, it was decided to deepen cooperation between ICIC and UNESCO, to promote the Berlin Principles of the Right to Information, with the aim of their recognition by the United Nations. This step aims to strengthen the role of access to information and its promotion in international organizations.
Another important decision was the establishment of the Planning Committee for the organization of the next ICIC Conference in 2026, which is expected to include representatives of civil society and international organizations. The ICIC Secretariat also presented several new initiatives, including the preparation of a special bulletin on the occasion of the International Day for the Right to Access to Information 2025. Three new authorities were also accepted to become part of ICIC, further expanding the global representation of this organization.
