The Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office has published for consultation the new draft of the “Model Transparency Program for Local Self-Government Units”.
Based on Article 6 of Law No. 119/21014 “On the Right to Information”, as amended: “The Information and Data Protection Commissioner approves and distributes models of transparency programs for different categories of public authorities…”
The aim of this process is to improve the standards of proactive transparency at the local level, by adapting the new Model Program to the legal changes and the latest developments in the field of the right to information, open data and citizen participation. The consultation process is open to citizens, municipalities, municipal councils and civil society organizations, who are invited to provide their comments and suggestions.
The consultations aim to ensure that the final document reflects best practices in transparency, easy access to information and increased accountability at the local level.

The Commissioner’s Office encourages all local stakeholders and the general public to contribute to this process, as an important step towards strengthening transparency, good governance and citizen participation.
