“Protection of personal data in the digital age. Rights of data subjects”, IDPC open lecture at “Aleksandër Moisiu” University

Within the framework of inter-institutional cooperation, as well as administrative investigations conducted in higher education structures, the Commissioner’s Office held an awareness-raising activity, in the form of an open lecture, on the topic of Protection of Personal Data in the Digital Age. Rights of data subjects”, at the premises of the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës. This activity, among other things, aimed to promote awareness and the involvement of higher education structures in topics related to rights and responsibilities in guaranteeing and promoting the protection of personal data. During the open lecture, Ms. Pjerina Mema, Director General of the General Directorate for Personal Data Protection, presented the rights of data subjects and some of the innovations of the law on the protection of personal data. The activity was attended by academic staff and students, who expressed interest in the topic and the issues addressed.

In his welcoming speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences and Law, Mr. Linert Lirëza, encouraged the development of such activities that promote constitutional rights, such as that of the protection of personal data, emphasizing the importance of legal education in this field.

The activity was attended by lecturers and students, emphasizing the importance of the involvement of higher education structures in promoting a data protection culture.
