The Planning Committee of the XVII International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC) conducted its first online meeting in order to kick off with the preparations for the content and logistics on the ICIC 2026 conference.
Under the lead of IDPC Albania, as ICIC Secretariat, this Committee consisted of, in addition to ICIC members, important ICIC stakeholders such as international organizations (UNESCO, OECD) and CSOs with an active role within the ICIC network. The inclusion of these stakeholders was a proposal from the Commissioner’s Office (IDPC Albania) backed by the ICIC Executive Committee towards a more inclusive approach.
The main theme proposed by the ICIC host is “Information Integrity in the Digital Era”. The attendees discussed over the conference format, topic structure, participation and logistics. Main features of the conference plan were introduced including objectives, expected deliverables, and parallel sessions during the conference. Parallel sessions shall include youth target group activities and digital innovation labs.

Unlike previous editions, the forthcoming ICIC conference is scheduled to take place in September 2026, exploring to have a back to back event with UNESCO, which falls with the celebration of the right to know day IDUAI 2026. The next meeting of the Planning Committee is anticipated to be held at the end of January, where further details on the programme, logistics and conference dates will be discussed.
