Open data is one of the fundamental pillars of transparency, accountability and innovative development in public administration. It gives citizens, businesses and organizations the opportunity to access, use and reuse public information freely, promoting participation and trust in public institutions.
The Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office continues to play a key role in ensuring this process, through supervising the implementation of relevant legislation, handling citizens’ complaints, monitoring the performance of public institutions, and promoting best practices in the publication and reuse of data.
In order to raise awareness and facilitate access to public information, the Commissioner’s Office has prepared information materials that address the importance of open data, procedures for requesting information, ways to submit complaints, and mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of Law no. 33/2022. This clear information can be accessed through these links:

These materials aim to support both public sector bodies and any interested party to better understand the rights and obligations arising from the legal framework, as well as to effectively use the available instruments.
In the context of the implementation of law no. 33/2022, the commitment of public bodies remains essential to guarantee the proactive publication of data and their reuse in open and accessible formats.
The transition from principle to implementation requires continuous efforts and close cooperation between institutions and the public. Only through a proactive approach to the publication and use of data can we build a more transparent, open and accountable administration.
