From 17th until 19th of November 2025, the Commissioner’s Office participated in the “European Case Handling Workshop – ECHW2025”, held in Prishtina, Kosovo with the attendance of approximately 70 representatives from 23 European data protection authorities.
The three-day workshop was conducted through thematic sessions designed to foster dialogue and strengthen cooperation among participating authorities, with the objective of exchanging experiences and best practices in the field of personal data protection.
The Commissioner’s Office contributed to the workshop through two substantive presentations.
During the panel entitled “Children’s Data on Digital Platforms and Online Games”, Ms. Pjerina Mema, Director General of the General Directorate for Personal Data Protection, delivered a presentation addressing key issues, including: the development of a curriculum on the online protection of children’s personal data; the contribution of the Commissioner’s Office to public awareness-raising; as well as inter-institutional cooperation with educational structures in the implementation of data protection legislation in the digital era. The panel also featured representatives from the Norwegian Data Protection Authority and the Data Protection Authority of the Island of Guernsey.

The Commissioner’s Office also took an active role in the panel entitled “Processing of health data in the era of Digitalisation: The boundary between Innovation and Personal Data Protection”, moderated by Ms. Mema, with the participation of representatives from the Data Protection Authority of North Macedonia and Ms. Desara Avdylaj, Inspector at the General Directorate for Personal Data Protection.
During the session, the presentation outlined the steps undertaken by the Republic of Albania in the context of the digitalization by public services; the role of the Commissioner’s Office in administrative oversight carried out within Primary Healthcare institutions; as well as awareness raising initiatives that promote, inter alia, enhanced cooperation among entities engaged in the processing of health data.
At the conclusion of the event, the contribution of the Commissioner’s Office to both panels, was acknowledged and warmly commended by representatives of counterpart authorities from participating states, including Croatia, Guernsey, Estonia and Sweden.
