The Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office was invited to the Civil Society Forum, held in Tirana.
The participation of the Commissioner’s Office was in the panel entitled “Reaching over the digital fence”, where representatives from regulatory institutions of our region, international organizations, civil society, academic circles and the media were also present. The Commissioner’s Office presented the work and progress within the process of improving the national legislation for its full adaptation to that of the European Union – the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The new regulatory framework will enable the most complete addressing of challenges and problems in the digital age, in order to better guarantee the rights of citizens. The modernized legislation, at the same time, will also affect the improvement of digital services in both the public and private spheres, as well as promote the implementation of higher standards in terms of security aspects.
The Civil Society Forum was held on the eve of the Summit of Leaders of the Berlin Process for the countries of the Western Balkans, as a platform for exchanging ideas and finding ways of cooperation.
