The trainings for strengthening the capacities of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) has commenced

The Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office, within the framework of the cooperation agreement with the Higher Education Institution “University College of Business”, contributed through the engagement of its certified trainers, to the 6-day training for the professional training and qualification program of the first group of Data Protection Officers (DPO).

This training has a particular importance in the context of the adoption of Law No. 124/2024 “On the Protection of Personal Data”, which marks a new stage for the protection of the fundamental rights of citizens in Albania.

The training aimed to familiarize and deepen topics such as: the role and responsibilities of DPOs, the criteria that a DPO must meet, the treatment of data subjects’ rights, risk management and data processing auditing, addressing data breach cases and assessing the impact on data, understanding the notions of controller, processor, co-controllers and preparing contracts between them, international data transfer, ethics, transparency and communication.

Such professional training marks the construction of a professional infrastructure that will guarantee a more secure, sustainable and European standard implementation of data protection law in Albania.
