The Information and Data Protection Commissioner has officially joined the Coalition for Proactive Transparency, an international initiative that aims to advance proactive transparency and support the development of standards and good practices for the publication of information of public interest.
This Coalition is led and coordinated at a strategic level by the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Government of the Netherlands, and brings together countries committed to strengthening transparency, access to information and open government.
Albania’s membership in this Coalition constitutes an important development in the field of the right to information and an assessment of the commitment and efforts of the Commissioner’s Office in promoting proactive transparency. Through this membership, new opportunities are created for the exchange of experiences and good practices with participating countries, as well as for the contribution to the development of international standards in this field.
Within the framework of this membership, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office will represent Albania in the activities of the Coalition and will contribute to the discussions and joint processes for strengthening proactive transparency and increasing public access to information. Membership in this Coalition further consolidates the international profile of the Commissioner’s Office in the field of the right to information.
Currently, the Commissioner’s Office holds the Presidency of the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC).
