The Commissioner’s Office continues consultations on the “New Transparency Program for Local Self-Government Units”

Following the public consultation process on the “New Draft Transparency Program for Local Self-Government Units”, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office held a consultation meeting with representatives of the Municipal Council and the Administration of the Municipality of Shijak. This activity follows the first meeting held in the city of Lezha, thus marking the continuation of the process of cooperation and involvement of local authorities in improving the transparency framework.

During the meeting, the participants were introduced to the proposed changes and improvements in the “New Draft Transparency Program”, presented by the Director General of the Right to Information at the Commissioner’s Office, Ms. Elona Hoxhaj.

Representatives of the Municipality of Shijak also presented their suggestions and observations, which are mainly related to the areas of economic-financial transparency and the information that should be published by municipal councils.

This consultation process aims to ensure that transparency programs are as comprehensive, practical and tailored to the real needs of local self-government units, while simultaneously increasing standards of openness and public accountability.
