The Information and Data Protection Commissioner, z. Besnik Dervishi, held a meeting with the Head of the ODIHR Office Mission in Tirana, Ambassador Lamberto Zannier.
The focus of the meeting was the role of the Commissioner’s Office in the context of the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 11, 2025.
Mr. Dervishi introduced Ambassador Zannier regarding the steps taken by the Commissioner’s Office to monitor the electoral process, including the establishment of a working group to oversee the behavior of political parties in relation to the lawful processing of voters’ personal data. Mr. Dervishi emphasized that, so far, no complaints have been submitted to the Commissioner’s Office regarding violations of personal data by political parties or citizens.
Commissioner Dervishi also informed Ambassador Zannier with regard to the joint statement with the State Election Commissioner on “The administration and processing of personal data in the context of electoral activities.”
Mr. Dervishi further briefed the Head of the ODIHR Mission on the contributions made by the Commissioner’s Office regarding the drafting of acts related to the out-of-country voting process, the PER system, and more.
Ambassador Lamberto Zannier expressed his appreciation for the contribution and role of the Office of the Commissioner for the Right to Information and the Protection of Personal Data.
