On 16 April 2026, the second ICIC Executive Committee meeting of the year was held online. The meeting was opened by the Director of the Cabinet of the Commissioner’s Office, Ms. Besa Velaj, who presented the agenda, welcomed the members and appreciated the work of the conference organizers in Sierra Leone, as well as the Planning Committee.
Commissioner Shaw, of the Sierra Leonean authority in its capacity as the organizer of the ICIC 2026 conference, presented the progress of the preparations. He shared in real time the draft agenda of the open session, which includes the opening ceremony, plenary and parallel sessions. The opening panel is expected to include representatives from UNESCO, the UN, the Albanian Commissioner in his capacity as the President of ICIC, and the President of Sierra Leone.
During the discussions, it was proposed that the coalition of civil society organizations make a short presentation (5–10 minutes) during the closed session of the ICIC members. This proposal was supported by the members of the Executive Committee, while further details are expected to be presented in the following meetings.
The Committee also approved the launch of the process of selecting new members of the Executive Committee, and the selection of the organizer of ICIC 2028. The Commissioner’s Office in its capacity as the Secretariat prepared the materials and will implement the opening of these calls in accordance with the deadlines.
Further discussions were held on the Berlin Principles document and other issues on the activities related to ICIC.
