Youth education and awareness raising for exercising their rights

The education of the new generation regarding the recognition and exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms is essential for a democratic and developed society. In the context of activities marking September 28, the International Day for the Universal Access to Information, the Commissioner’s Office held meetings with students and teachers from public and private nine-year education institutions under the motto “Don’t hesitate to ask”.

The meetings aimed to present the concepts and principles of legislation concerning the right to information to this age group and to raise awareness about the practical exercise of this right. The staff of the Commissioner’s Office visited the nine-year schools “E Kuqe” and “Indipendent,” where they shared knowledge and practical advice with those present, as part of the institution’s ongoing commitment to collaborating with the country’s educational structures. Participants were introduced to the key elements of the right to information, a historical overview of its evolution in Albania and worldwide, as well as the functions and institutional activities promoting this right. These meetings took place in the form of an open discussion with questions and answers in the subject of “Citizenship.”
