The Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner conducted an awareness meeting, attended by students and staff of “Ismail Qemali” University of Vlora.

The staff of the Office of Commissioner informed the participants on legal aspects in the field of data protection and privacy, addressing practical cases in our country, on the authority’s role in handling citizens’ complaints and with the latest development in this regard in the European Union and abroad. In the meeting innovations of the Law “On right to information” were introduced, drafting and publication of transparency programs of public authorities, the coordinator’s role in addressing citizens’ complaints, the power of the Commissioner’s Office in case of complaints, as well as with the portal pyetshtetin.al.

Moreover, the Commissioner’s Office conducted several meetings with students and teachers of high schools of Vlora, in the context of the awareness campaign “Privacy and data safety when using social networks by the youth”. The students were informed with various aspects of the safe use of internet and social networks, concrete cases of the misuse of personal data by youth themselves, while they were acquainted with means and manners to avoid the breach of privacy.
